Buchanan Street is considered one of the best shopping streets in the UK, and boy can you tell. You've everything you need on the same street or very close by - all the big high street names are here, from budget basics to designer labels.
If you're really wanting to indulge yourself, take advantage of the services of a style advisor. They'll help you buy for a special occasion, or give you practical advice on what to wear to suit your shape. And, even better, if you use one from a store it's usually completely free.
Get a bit of pampering. While you're in Buchanan Galleries, Clarins and Clinique in John Lewis both have beauty rooms for treatments, and natural beauty brand Korres also offer treatments in their store on the lower ground floor. Get a manicure or pedicure at Express Nails or your hair done at Trade Secret. Or there are plenty of other options nearby. Get a relaxing massage from organic experts Neal's Yard or a state-of-the art beauty treatment from Sk:n.
Lunchtime. If you're looking for somewhere to linger over a spot of lunch, you're spoiled for choice. Stick close to Buchanan Street if you're planning to carry on shopping in the afternoon. Some of our favourites include Amarone and Rogano. Or for something a bit more casual, try The Social, The Lab, Strata or Bar 10. For top-quality people watching, you need to be in Royal Exchange Square at one of the outdoor bars and restaurants (head for The Social), or in Princes Square (upstairs on the top floor has more people-watching potential).
When you're done, have a well-deserved rest. Have an aperitif at the bar at The Rogano - one of Glasgow's oldest and swankiest restaurants - known for its champagne, seafood and fabulous art deco surroundings.
If you're looking to catch a film, there are a number of options.
The big multiplex cinema in town is Cineworld, showing all the current blockbusters. The city's arthouse cinema, the GFT, is just off Sauchiehall Street and shows a wide mix of classics, arthouse and world cinema.
And if you've still go the energy to carry on, Glasgow's got a great night life. Glaswegians love any opportunity to dress up, so put on your glad rags before you head out. From the splendour of The Corinthian to the quirkiness of The Buff Club, there's somehting for every taste. Cheers!
