The right lighting can completely transform a room, but the type of lighting you'll need will depend on what you want to use it for.  Soft low level lights create a warm and cosy atmosphere, and can be spread throughout a room to great effect. But task-focused lighting, for reading or working, needs to give a clear bright light in a specific location.

Task lighting: Anglepoise lamp

If you're looking for a desk lamp, the Anglepoise is a design classic.  Besides it's retro good looks, it has everything you need with a heavy base to make sure it stays put and jointed arms to let you position the light precisely where you need it.

This Anglepoise 1227 model commemorates the 75th anniversary of this very design and is a limited edition. Also available in blue, black and cream.

Atmospheric lighting: Naima table lamp

If you're looking for a large, stylish lighting solution then this table lamp is just the thing. Atmospheric lighting: Floor lamp

Tall and slim, this candlestick-style floor lamp would fit perfectly in any living space in the house. Floor lamps are great for areas of a room that are hard to light or where additional lighting would be beneficial e.g. for reading.
