As winter approaches it’s important to make sure your foundation is protecting your skin as well as giving you the perfect base. If, like me, your skin dries out in the Autumn and Winter months, then the new Supermoisture Makeup foundation by Clinique could be just what you are looking for. It’s fantastic, like giving your skin a huge glass of water. The boffins at Clinique proclaim it as the ‘foundation that thinks like a moisturiser’, and they have got it absolutely spot on. It’s has a soft, mousse-like consistency and it gives good coverage without being heavy or cakey. Available now, from John Lewis, £18.50.

If you haven’t been in the Korres store in the Galleries yet, shame on you! It’s a beauty lovers paradise, full of gorgeous creams, potions and lotions. They are all natural and the only problem you will have in store is deciding what NOT to buy. My favourites at the moment are the Fig shower gel and body butter. The creamy shower gel is heavenly, and the body butter is rich, smoothing and moisturising. It contains fig extract, shea butter and sunflower, almond and avocado oils to nourish the skin and restore its elasticity – essential in these cold months.

SisleyaNow, I am not one of these beauty editors who tell you a cream is good because the PR tells me so. Some products out there really do not do what they say on the tin, and are hugely overpriced. A sharp intake of breath may follow when you read this £205 recommendation, but Sisley’s latest serum, the Sisleya Radiance Anti-Aging Concentrate is a product that will give you results. Use for two months and you will see a difference – tighter skin, lessening of pigmentation, smoother looks. Sisley are one of the few independent beauty houses still out there and their products, whilst not cheap, are some of the best around. They use botanical ingredients as much as they can, and this concentrate – Indian cress flower extract helps reduce pigmentation, prickly pear flower extract exfoliates, and Chinese Alkekengis extract fights the free-radical damage that causes collagen to degenerate. Put it on your Christmas list now, or just treat yourself, and your skin. £205, John Lewis.
