John Lewis is set to invest £20 million in a major transformation of its Glasgow store at Buchanan Galleries, creating an exciting new retail destination with enhanced shopping experiences, new brands and expert services.
The investment marks the retailer’s largest single-store refurbishment in more than five years and reinforces its long-term commitment to Glasgow and its customers.
The extensive refurbishment will take place over the next year, with every area of the 28,000-square-metre store receiving upgrades designed to inspire customers and enhance the shopping experience. The store will remain open throughout the redevelopment, allowing visitors to continue shopping while enjoying new departments and experiences as they are introduced.
The first phase is due to begin in June 2026 and will focus on the lower ground floor, with a new technology and sports destination expected to launch by late September. Menswear and home departments will follow later in the year, while a new gift emporium, expanded fashion offering, beauty hall and fragrance hall are scheduled to open during 2027.
Customers can look forward to a range of exciting additions including a new World of Tech, an expanded sports department, enhanced menswear and womenswear collections, new beauty and fragrance experiences, upgraded childrenswear and nursery departments, a refreshed home destination and improved hospitality offering.
The investment forms part of John Lewis’s wider £800 million transformation programme and is designed to meet growing demand for inspiration, expert advice and seamless shopping across channels.
